Big Rig Catches Fire Wednesday Morning In Smyrna

(SMYRNA, TN) Around 5:35 Wednesday morning (2/19/2020) Smyrna Fire Rescue rushed to a tanker truck fire in the parking lot at McDonald's at 1855 Almaville Road.

Upon arrival, personnel noted that the cab and engine of the tanker truck were fully engulfed in flames. SFD personnel extinguished the fire and no injuries have been reported. The tanker was loaded with 3,500 gallons of grease.

Smyrna Fire Chief Bill Culbertson said, "Personnel from Stations 1 and 6 did an excellent job of containing and extinguishing this fire. The driver escaped, unharmed, and no other vehicle or structure was impacted."

The driver of a tanker truck escaped a fire without injuries.
