In light of the planned vigil in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County Commissioner Pettus Read, speaks on preparations. He's the chair of the commission's Public Safety Committee.

I have had many contacts concerning what is going to happen in our county this afternoon. Early this morning I talked with both Mayor Ketron and Sheriff Fitzhugh learning of all the many preparations being made today for the gathering on our historic square. They have been involved in this since yesterday along with the City of Murfreesboro making sure that an orderly expression of citizens 1st amendment rights may be conducted. My hopes and prayers are for this opportunity to be one to gather understanding.

This event is planned as a peaceful event and I have been told other activities of disorderly action will not be tolerated by law enforcement in our county and city to hurt the event. Protection of citizens, their safety, their property and rights is important to all of us. On this Lord's Day may our prayers include our county and it's citizens along with this country for only his healing can give us in times like these.
