A body of a murder victim found shot to death Wednesday morning off of Ditch Road in Rockvale (Rutherford County) is believed to be that of Nashvillian Luis Alberto Diaz, 23, who lived on Lebanon Pike. Confirmation of the identity will be made through DNA testing.

Diaz's uncle reported his nephew as a missing person on the evening of July 8th after having last seen him at 7 a.m. on the day before. Diaz's H2 Hummer was recovered on Monday of this week in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Hopkinsville police notified the Metro Nashville Police Department's Homicide-Cold Case Unit after seeing that the vehicle was linked to a missing person in the National Crime Information Center computer system. Further investigation by the Homicide-Cold Case Unit led to the development of information that Diaz's body could be in the Rockvale area. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office assisted in discovering the remains.
