DUI Cases Increases, but not always Alcohol DUI Cases

Over the years law enforcement in Murfreesboro and throughout the state have seen an increase in the different types of DUI arrests that are being made. Ashley Chisom works in the Rutherford County District Attorney's Office and she specifically prosecutes DUI offenders. Chisom told WGNS one of the biggest issues revolves around drugs...

In Rutherford County the courts are seeing nearly equal number of alcohol DUI, drug DUI and a combination of drugs mixed with alcohol DUI cases.

A 2018 report by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) showed that 8,009 crashes in the Volunteer State involved alcohol or drug impared drivers. Of that number, 380 were fatal crashes.
