Rutherford County on Track to Have Lowest Unemployment Rate in Country

Aug 30, 2011 at 06:30 am by bryan

The unemployment picture is starting to come into focus. Rutherford County’s unemployment rate now stands at 8.5%. There is more good news as well, Nissan still plans to hire up to 1,300 people to work at their new Leaf plant when construction is finished at the end of 2012. NHK Spring is bringing in 200-new jobs. Plus, the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce has an aggressive plan of creating 5,000 new jobs with new companies over the next 5-years. If all goes as planned and that is a big "IF," Rutherford County will have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country between now and 2016.
