A program known as PGA HOPE has been working to introduce local Veterans with disabilities to golf, with the idea of helping them physically and mentally. On Monday (11/8/21), PGA HOPE announced their first graduates of the program.
HOPE, which stands for “Helping Our Patriots Everywhere,” is a program that helps disabled Veterans grow physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through the game of golf. PGA HOPE reports that learning and playing golf is a proven activity that has helped thousands of military Veterans assimilate back into their community through the social interaction the game provides.
The upcoming graduation on Wednesday, November 10th, will include a 6-hole golf tournament for participating Veterans followed by a presentation and award ceremony. All PGA HOPE participants are Veterans living with physical or cognitive challenges including PTSD, traumatic brain injuries and amputees, among others.
