Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Hugh Berryman

(MURFREESBORO)  Greenhouse Ministries is offering a Tuesday series of classes that shares the knowledge of local residents with the community. Forensic Anthropologist Hugh Berryman was this week's guest (4/5/2022).

The  Professor Emeritus at the university shared fascinating studies that he personally researched including long ago deaths from mummified victims in ancient Egyptian tombs--to murders across the Volunteer State.

Berryman retired from MTSU last December and his area of expertise is in blunt force trauma, skeletal remains, and osteology.

When asked about the need for an expansion of forensic science locally with a partnership between MTSU and Rutherford County, he noted that there is a shortage of forensic anthropologists and with the increasing numbers of deaths brought on by drugs and other issues, such a program is needed in today's society.

After the lecture, NewsRadio WGNS spoke with Dr. Berryman:

By the way, Greenhouse Ministries' community education series continues next week with a class at 10:00 o'clock Tuesday morning (4/12/2022). It will be on Estate Planning at Greenhouse Ministries, 307 S. Academy Street.
