(MURFREESBORO) A word to the wise, when you park your vehicle at night--don't leave valuables in plain sight and LOCK YOUR DOORS!

Public Information Officer Larry Flowers reports that word is gradually getting around, and residents are locking their vehicles.

This is not strictly a Murfreesboro problem.

In neighboring Nashville, a review of stolen vehicle reports in Nashville from Sunday, December 15th through Saturday, December 21st, shows that 77 per cent of the automobiles taken (34 of 44) were easy targets because the keys were left inside or made available to thieves. Four of the 44 vehicles stolen were left running without the driver present.

Flowers reminds everyone to lock their automobile doors, secure any valuables---including and especially guns, and REMOVE THE KEYS.
