(MURFREESBORO) Mayor Shane McFarland was on WGNS this past Wednesday as listeners asked him questions about "city issues" that concerned them. During each broadcast, there are usually a few questions that either the mayor or his on-line digital brain-power don't have the answers.

Here are some from this week's radio show:

1.North Highland Avenue, near Murfreesboro Police and Evergreen Cemetery, is getting quite bumpy. Do you plan on repaving it soon?

Murfreesboro City Engineer Chris Griffith researched the question and replied: Yes, in this calendar year. Water Resources has some repairs they want to do and we'll follow up with paving shortly after they are finished. I'm anticipating it will be in the fall.

2.In an effort to make it easy to enter the shopping area where Northern Tools and Hobby Lobby are located, there was once conversation about extending Mall Circle Drive across the Old Fort Parkway, where it intersects with a traffic signal. How does that stand?

Murfreesboro's Executive Director Development Services Sam Huddleston replied: Historically, we have resisted extending it across 96 to Northern Tool to reduce the impact on traffic flow on 96. I think that's still our position unless there is a fix that mitigates it's impact on traffic progression.

The listener texted WGNS after reading this response say, "It does not look as if it would impact traffic progression at all on 96. There is a traffic signal at that intersection that already stops the flow. It does not appear that there would be any negative impact.
