(MURFREESBORO) Congratulations to Murfreesboro Fire Rescue's Engineer Mitchell Whittenburg, Firefighters Beau Doss, Ryan Pointer and Caleb Walls as the recipients of the prestigious STARS Awards.

These four heroes received this honor because of the life saving work they did on December 3, 2019, when dispatched on a medical call where they found an unresponsive person.

The team acted quickly and put in an advanced airway. That's a device that creates a clear path between a patient's lungs and the outside world. At that point the emergency responders started CPR and with the AED (Automated external defibrillator) a shock was delivered. The patient survived due to the quick and outstanding response from the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue's Rescue 9 crew.
