(SMYRNA TN) Around 6:00 o'clock Monday night (2/3/2020) Smyrna Police responded to a motorcycle vs minivan crash at the intersection of South Lowry and Sam Griffin.

A motorcycle driven by Smyrna resident 48-year old Karl J. Burdette had been struck by a minivan driven by Murfreesboro resident Willa D. Palmer, age 70.

Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services pronounced Mr. Burdette deceased at the scene.

Smyrna Police Spokesperson Kathy Ferrell told WGNS, "The preliminary investigation shows that Ms. Palmer was traveling toward Murfreesboro on South Lowry Street and was making a left turn onto Sam Griffin. Mr. Burdette was traveling toward Nashville on South Lowry Street.

Accident investigators are continuing to investigate this fatal accident. Results will be presented to the Rutherford County District Attorney.
