McGuire and the Middle Tennessee baseball team will host the event to lead off the 2018 baseball campaign. The popular luncheon will feature the traditional menu of ham hocks, white beans, tomato salad, green onions, corn bread, chocolate cake and ice cream.

"The Groundhog Day Luncheon is the longest-running event on campus; it's what Blue Raider Baseball is all about," McGuire said. "You have the tradition with Coach Stanford starting this thing 45 years ago, to Coach Pete taking over and being a part of that with him for 20 years, to putting our own spin on it last year.

"It really defines Blue Raider Baseball's tradition."

Tickets for the luncheon are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Additionally, a table of 10 can be reserved for $250. Reservations can be made by calling the Blue Raider ticket office at (615) 898-5261. The deadline to pre-order tickets is Feb. 1.
