The Exchange Club of Murfreesboro had as their June 14th program guest Alissa Shear, Assistant Director, CASA of Rutherford County.

Alisa explained the process of training and serving as a CASA volunteer. The organization advocates for abused or neglected children in and out of court. Shear said that too many children in the child welfare system lose their families and their rights and hopes.

CASA ( Court Appointed Special Advocates ) is seeking volunteers. Today 60% of the children in the system have no access to a CASA Volunteer. That is almost 400,000 children nationwide without the hope a CASA volunteer can bring. Contact www.casaofrutherfordcounty.org for more information, and on Facebook.

The Exchange Club has as its national project the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Club President Ronnie Gandy presents Alissa Shear a donation of $ 1,000.00, as part of their prevention of child abuse project.
