Over 560 people donated to the Murfreesboro Muslim Youth organization which helped them raise close to $80,000 in 2019. According to the non-profit, 90% of that money went to fund a variety of service projects in our community. The remainder went to fund different operating expenses.

Some of the events put together by the Murfreesboro Muslim Youth organization included the "Love Your Neighbor" community meal, the "Murfreesboro Loves" campaign and the "Love Your Neighbor on the Square" event.

One of the goals for 2020 is to provide free meal vouchers for several shelters in Rutherford County. This new program will cover the expense of hot meals in cases of emergency for those in need, especially the elderly.

Murfreesboro Muslim Youth was formed after the murder of three Muslim youth in Chapel Hill, NC in 2015.

The man who admitted to the murders plead guilty in 2019. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The three victims that Craig Hicks killed were... his neighbors.
