After a local post-conviction hearing, it was learned that a new trial will not take place for a man who was convicted of second degree murder.

Dewey Abbott III was convicted for murdering 40-year-old Jesse Sliepenbeek of Murfreesboro in 2017. The investigation and court proceedings took about 2 years as the actual murder happened in 2015.

The 2015 murder unfolded in Abbott's Kings Crossing Apartment (1710 E. Northfield Blvd. - apartment Q-5). Slipenbeek suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
