Pedestrian Killed on S. Church Street

Murfreesboro Police FACT investigators are looking into a crash which resulted in a pedestrian killed on South Church Street.

The crash happened Tuesday (8-7-18) near 2020 South Church Street, which is the TigerMart Exxon gas station. Spokeswoman Amy Norville tells NewsRadio WGNS the crash involved a 2018 Honda Fit and a pedestrian, 39-year old Douglas Burton. The investigation revealed the Honda, driven by 72-year old John Woodall of Lebanon, was travelling south on South Church Street and struck Burton who was crossing the street. Woodall was not hurt.

Burton was treated on scene by Murfreesboro Fire Rescue personnel and Rutherford County Emergency Services who transported him to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital for LifeFlight transfer to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was pronounced deceased at Vanderbilt a short time later.

No charges have been filed at this time, however the investigation is ongoing.
