Road Rage Incident in Murfreesboro Ends with Accident and Arrest

A road rage situation ended with charges of "Aggravated Assault with a Firearm" being filed in Murfreesboro.

According to the victim the suspect forced at least two vehicles into the median while traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County. The victim told the authorities that when he got onto South Church Street at exit 81, Robert Spencer "brake checked him." Once at the intersection of South Church Street at Indian Park Drive, Spencer allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim.

The police report shows that the victim, fearing for his life, hit the gas when he saw the laser beam from the gun in his car. Seconds later, the suspect rear ended the victim at an excessive speed, according to a police report on file with the MPD. After the accident, the 32 year old victim who lives in Shelbyville, called the police.

When officers arrived on the scene they spoke to the man accused of harassing the victim. Police say that 22 Year old Robert Nicholas Spencer from Lebanon admitted to the incident and allowed for police to search his car. Inside his vehicle they found the gun, which turned out to be a BB gun that looked like a Smith and Wesson .40 M&P.

Spencer was charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of Drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 15, 2016. The suspect is currently free on bond.
