Some of the changes, which will be implemented immediately include rescheduling all fine arts presentations. That includes plays, music performances and art showcases.

Field trips over the next few weeks will be canceled or rescheduled. The system will also reschedule parent/teacher conferences scheduled for March, orientations for student groups will be rescheduled for later in the school year and non-essential visitors to schools will be restricted. That includes lunch time visits.

As for athletic events, indoor activities like archery, indoor tennis and bowling will be rescheduled. Outdoor athletic events may continue and parents are urged to use their discretion.

WILL SCHOOLS BE CLOSED?

In the event of a confirmed case of COVID-19 by the Tennessee Department of Health, we will work in conjunction with public health leaders to determine if it involves someone connected to a Rutherford County school, such as a parent, a student or an employee. If the case is connected to a school, we will then evaluate whether to close some or all county schools to perform a thorough cleaning, and then we will move forward with reopening schools and continuing instruction, if the situation allows.

The Tennessee Department of Health is providing updates daily to government leaders and the general public. We will keep parents informed if a confirmed case involves our schools.
