The five largest counties in Tennessee and the counties which border Davidson County in Middle Tennessee are all spending more than Rutherford County, when it comes to putting a value on property.

Rutherford County Assessor of Property Rob Mitchell told WGNS in an email, "The county which spends the most money per capita to administer the valuations of property values is Shelby county which is also the largest county by population and by square miles. What may surprise you is that Rutherford County spends the least amount per capita." Mitchel went on to note, "The fastest growing county in Tennessee is also the most efficient when it comes to spending your tax dollars."

Rutherford County only spends $7.62 per capita to administer the valuations of property values. Shelby County with the highest rate spends $11.94 per capita followed by Davidson County at $11.29.
