The Rutherford County School system continues their search for new crossing guards. The schools have a total of 49 schools and up to 25 new crossing guards are now needed.

According to the county's website, the crossing guard job pays $17 per hour. The shift is available through the Sheriff's Office and the work detail is actually under the Sheriff's command. The job is up to one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon, during the start and close of the school day.

As for the first day of school in the county, the Rutherford County system will have a half day on Tuesday, August 6th. The day will only last for two hours. The next day will be for teachers only followed by the first full day of classes on Thursday, August 8, 2019.
