(MURFREESBORO) State Representative Mike Sparks and business leader Marty Luffman honored Scott Walker Saturday (8/3/2019) evening with a Tennessee State House of Representative Proclamation. This was for his compassion to improve the lives of the homeless, addicted--as well as eliminate the statute of limitations children who are victims of sexual abuse.

Walker has been working with Representative Sparks since 2016 to change legislation that would abolish the statute of limitations on future child abuse victims who were age 12 or younger. Tennessee's 111th General Assembly passed legislation that accomplishes that.

It is not unusual for victims of child abuse to hold this secret within them through life, and sometimes it explodes out when they reach their 30s and 40s. Unfortunately, past legislation protected Tennessee abusers and shielded them from the justicial system.

In fact, that's exactly what happened to Walker. Around three years ago, he released that secret which festered within him for decades. None of his family members knew of those dark times. It was then that the Murfreesboro radio executive passionately stepped forward to help future generations of young abuse victims.

The state's recognition also focuses on Walker's passion to help homeless as well as addicted segments of the population. Over the years, his street photography depicting their challenges has touched many, along with talks to concerned groups, and through his photo website SmallTownBigWorld.com.

He and his daughter Olivia live in Murfreesboro where he serves as president of WGNS radio. His son Reed is in the U.S. Army. Walker's wife and children's mother, Angie, died in the tornado that swept across the Christiana community last November 6, 2018.
