Tennessee's economy continues to see steady gains. Compared to the same quarter last year, new business filings rose during the third quarter of 2019. These findings and more are included in a new report to be released Friday by the Tennessee Secretary of State's office and the University of Tennessee- Knoxville.
The Tennessee Quarterly Business and Economic Indicators report is created to provide a periodic snapshot of the state's economy based on a variety of information, including new business data from the Secretary of State's Division of Business Services.
Members of the media are invited to participate in a teleconference on Friday morning with Secretary of State Tre Hargett and Dr. William F. Fox, director of the Boyd Center for Business & Economic Research at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. The teleconference will highlight the report's findings for the third quarter of 2019. Members of the media will have an opportunity to ask questions about the state of Tennessee's economy and forecasts for the remainder of 2019 and 2020.
