Veterans and citizens gathered to pay tribute on Memorial Day to the work of those who served at Sewart (sue-WERT) Air Force Base in Smyrna. In fact, it's the day State Representative Mike Sparks has been working on for several weeks now as part of a special commemoration.

As former airmen gathered, a new sign depicting "Sewart Air Force Base Memorial Highway" was unveiled. The old air base was decommissioned 45-years ago, but it still holds a special place in the hearts of many in Smyrna.
