Taste of Latin America Comes to Patterson Park

Murfreesboro City Schools and The Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra invites the community to the Taste of Latin America event on Saturday, October 21 at Patterson Park. From 10 am until 2 pm, this free event offers students and families the opportunity to experience Latin American food, music, student art, dances, and activities.

The Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Rubén Darío Gómez Prada, will begin their performance at 11 am. The orchestra showcases a variety of music from Latin America including the Mexican Hat Dance, Conga, Colombia Tierra Querida and Ecuador's Andarele.

"We want to celebrate the cultural diversity in our schools and our community," says Jenny Ortiz, Principal, Bradley Academy. "The Latin American culture is diverse and represents over twenty countries. This event offers a unique glimpse to the many sides of the Latino community including its dynamic musical heritage."

The day includes performances from the Bradley choir, Steel de boro, cultural themed face painting, cuisines from eight Latin American countries and craft activities with a Latin focus.
