Detectives are interviewing possible witnesses as to how the shooting occurred.

Despite efforts by the city to reduce deadly violence around the university--this is the second fatal shooting in two days in the area surrounding MTSU.

In February, 2018--over a year ago--the City of Murfreesboro created a class for apartment managers who cater to university students. The program is based on the concept started in Mesa, Arizona back in 1992. Forty-eight communities have tried the concept and have seen as much as a 70 percent drop in crime.

Under this agreement, Murfreesboro Police and MTSU Police have agreed to provide mutual aid and assistance, to make arrests, execute search warrants, and perform other law enforcement functions, when necessary, to act outside their jurisdiction.

Unfortunately, the local shootings continue, and Murfreesboro recently held another class for the apartment managers. Despite that, two deadly shootings have occurred in this week, Sunday and Tuesday.

Detectives in the Murfreesboro Police Criminal Investigations Division continue their investigation into this most recent deadly shooting at Campus Villa Apartments.
