UPDATE: Man who was struck by a train when truck stopped on tracks Saturday is in Stable Condition

Vanderbilt Medical Center confirmed that the man whose truck was struck by a train in Murfreesboro is now in stable condition. The accident occurred this past Saturday night around 6 on Florence Road in Murfreesboro (2/4/2017).

55 Year old Jay Arnold of Meadow Lane appeared to have been attempting to cross the tracks on Florence Road next to the Florence Gas Station when the accident occurred. For unknown reasons, either the truck stalled or he stopped on the tracks. The train conductor told police that he witnessed Mr. Arnold on his cell phone next to his truck as he activated all breaking systems on the train.

Despite the attempt to stop the fully loaded CSX locomotive, the train collided with the truck which hit Arnold who was believed to be next to the vehicle.

Arnold was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where he is now listed to be in stable condition.
