11th Annual "Generation for Creation" Talent Show This Saturday!

Generation for Creation Inc., a Murfreesboro-based nonprofit organization is hosting the 11th annual Talent Contest: "Reflections of Love" this coming Saturday (9/7/2013) afternoon at 4:00 in the Patterson Park Community Center (521 Mercury Boulevard).  Admission is $7 and all proceeds will go toward Generation for Creation's Talent Contest and operation cost for the program.

Generation for Creation is devoted to promoting visual and performing arts among youth. Generation for Creation is currently conducting local auditions for youth ages 7-17 for categories of drama, singing, art, dance, modeling, and instrumental. Those who wish to audition should call Generation for Creation to schedule an audition time before the auditions close by August 31.

Those competing in the talent contest will receive first, second, and third place trophies in each category. One overall grand prize, $500, will be awarded sponsored by local businesses announced at the event. A $100 scholarship will be awarded to a student who will be attending MTSU with a major or minor in the Arts sponsored by the Lynn Henny Bailey Scholarship Fund.

Columbia native Lynnette Cole, International Spokes Model for Pur Minerals and former Miss USA will serve as the returning mistress of ceremonies for this year’s GFC talent show sponsored in part by the Tennessee Art Commission, City of Murfreesboro, Customer Cares and local businesses and friends of the talent contestants.

Cole teaches the contestants tips on professional stage etiquette. Cole said, "Each year my spirit is renewed knowing that Generation for Creation exists, giving children a place to encourage, develop, create and express their talents. Sometimes we all need to remember our dreams as a child and aspire to be everything we want to be."

Our judges for this year will be Bethany Hoppe, Katherine Sandanvol Taylor, Freddie Quimbley, Avionna Carrigan, Suzanne LeBeau, and alternate: Keturah Brown.  Special Guest Entertainment by Molly Kenny, Keturah Brown, and 2012 Talent Contest Winners: Prince Ski and Work of Art.

Tickets are now on sale for $7 and can be purchased by going online at www.gfckidz.org or facebook.

Generation for Creation's Acting classes meets weekly at the Boys and Girls Club on Thursday evenings from 5 pm - 7 pm. Generation for Creation hosts plays and community events throughout the year. Parents and interested youth may register for classes on the website.
