In other council news, the City heard recommendations from the Assistant Planning Director regarding the Town Creek Stream Remediation Phase 1 Proposal.

They also heard recommendations from Fire & Rescue Chief Mark Foulks regarding a contract with Sutphen for the purchase of a 100' Mud-Mount Aerial.

Chief Foulks also commended his departments efforts with the chemical spill on I-24 Wednesday, and with the wildfires in East Tennessee.

All these recommendations were approved.

Finally, City Manager Rob Lyons made a declaration of surplus property on firefighter helmets due to the helmets aging.

Lyons then made a proposal of a land acquisition along Franklin Road of over 160 acres to be reimbursed from proceeds of notes, bonds, or other indebtedness to be issued or incurred by the City.

The reason for the acquisition is for city uses such as school sites and more.

Councilman Lalance almost didn't want to back the acquisition idea due to the high price and wanting to focus on other projects, such as West Park, considering the city is already spending enough.

After much discussion with council, everyone warmed up to the idea and approved to move forward.
