MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS News) - Murfreesboro Police are asking a fairly straightforward question: “Do you know this woman?” Detectives would apparently like to have a conversation with her about a shopping trip to Sunglass Hut that police say ended with more than $7,500 worth of high-end sunglasses leaving the store without the equally important part of the transaction – the payment, cash or card. Scroll down for more and for a full size photo.
Police took to social media Tuesday asking for the public’s help identifying a woman wanted for questioning in connection with a theft at the Sunglass Hut on Medical Center Parkway.
According to Murfreesboro Police, the incident happened Aug. 5. Investigators allege the woman concealed and took several pairs of high-end sunglasses valued at more than $7,500 without paying for them. Again, that was a whopping $7,500 worth of sunglasses.
Surveillance images released by police show a woman dressed almost entirely in bright pink or fuchsia clothing. She appears to be wearing a short-sleeve, scrub-style or loose-fitting top with matching pants and light-colored athletic shoes. Nice choice for an indoor stroll! Her dark hair appears to be pulled back, and a large white bow or decorative hair accessory can be seen near the back or side of her hair, which added a touch of glamour to her outfit. Styling sunglasses also appear to be resting on top of her head in at least one of the surveillance images.
The woman is also pictured carrying several shopping bags, including a large tan paper bag, a black bag and a white bag with green-striped handles. So, while police have not said how the sunglasses were allegedly concealed, the surveillance photos suggest this was not exactly a minimalist shopping excursion.
Investigators have not publicly identified the woman and are asking anyone who recognizes her to contact Detective Ferree at 629-201-5628 or by email at 1220@murfreesborotn.gov.
Murfreesboro Police have described the woman as wanted for questioning in connection with the theft. No arrest or criminal conviction has been announced, and the allegation remains under investigation.
