MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Local high school football programs continue to have a major impact in the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Week 6 football poll. 

In Class 6A, Riverdale High School maintained its hold on the top spot in the state. The Warriors earned fifteen first-place votes to claim the number one position with a 4-1 record, holding off second-ranked Maryville High School, which once again got some first place votes. Oakland followed closely behind, securing the third spot in Class 6A with a 4-1 record. Rounding out the top ten in Class 6A are Southwind in fourth, Antioch in fifth, Brentwood in sixth, Whitehaven seventh, Lebanon eighth, Cleveland ninth, and Oak Ridge in tenth. Blackman has been in the top 10 all year until this most recent poll.

In Division II-A, Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) continues to represent Rutherford County in the statewide poll. The Cougars hold the number five spot in the class after compiling a 4-1 record through the first five weeks of play. Nashville Christian School leads Division II-A at number one, followed by undefeated Jackson Christian School, University School of Jackson in third, and Friendship Christian School fourth.

Statewide rankings are selected by participating TSWA sports writers and will be released every Monday throughout the regular season and playoffs, concluding with the BlueCross Bowl state championship games in December.
