A man who plead guilty to one count of “Vehicular Homicide” in the courtroom of Judge David Bragg, has filed an appeal to the case. Defendant Travis Lee Dobson was sentenced to 12-years behind bars after being convicted by a Cannon County jury.

Dobson was originally arrested in 2010 after losing control of his SUV on Auburntown Road and striking the victim’s vehicle nearly head on.  Killed was 59-year old Robert Eddie Ward of Murfreesboro. After the accident, the TBI found marijuana, methamphetamine and amphetamine in the suspects’ blood sample.

On appeal, the Defendant argues that the trial court erred by imposing the maximum sentence and by denying any form of alternative sentencing. The Court of Criminal Appeals of Tennessee in Nashville refused to see it that way and upheld the decision that was reached in the courtroom of Judge Bragg.

Judge D. Kelly Thomas, Jr. wrote, “Based upon the foregoing, the sentencing decision of the Cannon County Circuit Court is affirmed.”
