The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce has named Shane Reeves and Rick Sain, owners of Reeves-Sain Family of Medical Services, as the 2011 Business People of the Year, and will honor them at the Chamber’s annual Business at its Best celebration on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Embassy Suites Murfreesboro Hotel and Conference Center.
The two businessmen have built Reeves-Sain into a major force in health care and pharmaceutical services since they acquired the Reeves-Powell Pharmacy in 1995. Now entering its 32nd year in the pharmacy business, Reeves-Sain has built its success on exceptional customer service, innovative product lines and charming touches that are standards of excellence since the beginning of the pharmacy.
The multi-million dollar company now has more than 190 employees over multiple divisions, including 19 pharmacists and clinical staff that believe in ongoing education, serving all the major hospitals and, most recently, opening a retail operation within Middle Tennessee Medical Center.?
In addition to its core prescription and compounding business, the company is delivering infusion products and services throughout middle Tennessee, providing respiratory and medical equipment and specialized diabetes products, and serving the needs of long-term care centers across the state. Reeves-Sain has also pioneered new pharmacy programs, such as the distinctive MediPACK system for managing medications and a line of pharmaceutical vitamins and supplements.
Shane Reeves is a graduate of Middle Tennessee Christian School and Oakland High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee. He has been recognized as Tennessee’s Young Pharmacist of the Year and still serves as a volunteer faculty member for the University of Tennessee and as a member of the Tennessee Pharmacist Association.
He has served as past Chairman for the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, past-president for Leadership Rutherford and past chairman of Tennessee’s National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) leadership council. In 2005, Reeves was honored as Tennessee’s small business champion by NFIB. Shane has also been active in the Blue Raider Athletic Association, Alzheimer’s Association (past Memory Walk Corporate Chair), American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and Leadership Middle Tennessee.
Reeves serves as a deacon at the North Boulevard Church of Christ. He and his wife, Amanda, live in Murfreesboro with their three children, Will, Jack & Emma-White.
Rick Sain, a native of Bell Buckle, Tenn., received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee after completing his pre-pharmacy work at MTSU. He was an intern for the Reeves-Powell Pharmacy and stayed on after completing the internship, subsequently purchasing the business with Shane Reeves. Active throughout the pharmacy community, Sain has been honored as Tennessee Young Pharmacist of the Year, the Retail Pharmacy Management Services National Pharmacist of the Year and the UT College of Pharmacy Preceptor of the Year. In addition, Sain has served as President of the Tennessee Pharmacists Association and currently sits on the Association’s board of directors. He was also selected to serve on the State of Tennessee’s Department of Labor Medical Care & Cost Containment Committee and the University of Tennessee’s National Alumni Association Board of Governors.
Locally, Sain has served as a past Director of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, as well as a member of the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau and has remained involved for more than 25 years. He served as an original member of the Murfreesboro Gateway Commission, is past president of the Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary Club and a former board member of the Middle Tennessee Medical Center Foundation, and is a member of Fellowship United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Amy, have two sons, Alec and Ky.
