Tindall noted that other than the old First Methodist Church being turned into living space, offices and retail spaces, no new hotel chains have purchased land to build a new structure in the area of the square.

If a new hotel is built, it would also be positive for the educational side because a partnership could be formed between the hotel and MTSU. The university now has a Tourism and Hospitality Management program.
