Avid readers will find themselves in a winning position on Saturday (5/19/2012) during the book sale held by the La Vergne Public Library. The event will take place from 9:00 Saturday morning until 3:00 in the afternoon, and shoppers can purchase books by making a monetary donation in an amount they feel is appropriate for the books they select. Their support will help build the selection of materials available for library patrons, plus they’ll be able to bring books home to build their own personal libraries.
“The book sale is a major fundraiser for the La Vergne Public Library and we are always so grateful for the generosity of our patrons, both for the donations of materials that we sell and for the cash donations we accept as payment for those materials,” said Teresa Wilberscheid, library director. “That money goes right back to the citizens of La Vergne. Supporting the library at the book sale creates a never-ending cycle of benefits for our entire community.”
Past book sale events have resulted in total donations that range from $600 to $2000. Money is used to help fund book collections, services and programs.
“Our public library offers so many services to our residents,” said Mayor Senna Mosley. “Most recently they added the Transparent Language Online database that helps people learn over 100 languages including ESL options.”
Books, DVDs, and CDs will be available at the book sale.
