Rutherford County Could Award a Bid to a New Waste / Recycling Management Company Soon

Talks of what to do with garbage that is generated by local residents in Rutherford County continue.

As heard in past newscast, the Middle Point Landfill has a life expectancy of six to eight years. After that time-frame, local garbage will no longer be dumped at the landfill in Walter Hill.

Over the next 30 to 60-days, Rutherford County Mayor Bill Ketron is hopeful to receive proposals from companies interested in managing waste AND recycling some of that waste to turn it into a viable product to help offset the cost of waste management. If the county finds a solid solution to dealing with waste, the county could sign a contract within the year.

As for the Middle Point Landfill and the existing contract with Republic Services...



Rutherford County could award a bid to one or more waste and recycling companies within the next 30 to 60-days.
