WGNS' Bart Walker filled in for Truman Jones "LIVE" at Adams Place with guest Dr. Dan Rudd. This morning Dr. Rudd outlined the latest updates regarding the omicron variant of the coronavirus. He indicated that this variant was appearing more like a "mild cold", but the medical doctor warned that persons with a weakened immune system, on certain prescriptions or suffering from diseases that weaken your system (cancer, obesity, heart disease and others are examples). Dr. Rudd stressed that smoking also makes your body weak and more prone to illness.

While talking about keeping your immune system strong, Dr. Rudd noted that the old thought of using daily multi-vitamins is not as effective as using vitamins C, D and zinc. The medical doctor explained that these items, and he stressed that they should not be considered medications, appear to fight cancer and infections. He explained that when you get your routine medical physical, that you should also have your blood checked for levels of vitamin D. That will help show how much you should take.

Dr. Rudd gave a suggested daily amount to take until you have that physical and get the proper numbers from the blood tests:

  • Vitamin D (5,000 units per day)
  • Vitamin C (1,000 mg twice daily)
  • Zinc (50 mg. daily)
