Murfreesboro Parks and Rec discuss future changes and additions and later guest talk about an upcoming Black History Month event that focuses on life in the past

The Murfreesboro Parks Department talked about upcoming additions to area parks during the first half of the program. Our guest were Parks Director Nate Williams and Assistant Parks Director Thomas Laird. We were also joined by Marketing Coordinator Melinda Tate this morning.

On the second half of the program, WGNS was joined by guest who talked about upcoming events involving Black History Month and special presentations that will be held at the Patterson Park Community Center (see dates below).

During the second half of the show, were joined by Vonchelle Stembride with the parks department. She works at the historic Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Arts Center in Murfreesboro. We also talked to Margaret McKinley with the African American Heritage Society of Rutherford County, Mallory Crook with Bradley Academy, Carolyn Lester, who will be a presenter of the Freedom Riders film and Leroy Cunningham, who will discuss the history of the Green Book.
