PREVIOUS UPDATE: (MURFREESBORO) A serious two-vehicle crash occurred around 5:00 o'clock Tuesday evening (1/3/2023) on Fortress Blvd. at the entrance the Cross Creek of Murfreesboro Apartments. One person was killed in the crash between a truck and minivan, another is in critical condition and a third person is stable.  

LifeFlight Helicopter took a victim to the Vanderbilt Trauma Center and another was flown to TriStar Skyline Hospital. A third person was transported by ground to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.

Fortress Blvd. was closed until 10:30PM Tuesday night while the Murfreesboro Police Department's FACT Team (Fatal Accident Crash Team) conducted its preliminary investigation.

The crash site was about a thousand feet from the entrance t Blackman Elementary School. 


 

Original story: (MURFREESBORO) Traffic on Fortress Boulevard, between Blaze Drive and Highway 96, had to be diverted Tuesday night (1/3/2023) because of a serious two-vehicle crash. LifeFlight Helicopter took a victim to the Vanderbilt Trauma Center, as a result of the accident. The incident occurred around 5:00 o'clock hour and reportedly involved a truck and a minivan.  

According to individuals on-the-scene, the crash took place at Blackman Elementary School. The number of persons injured and their conditions has not been revealed by the authorities. Police are now gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses in the area.

Murfreesboro Police encourage motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes. NewsRadio WGNS will keep you informed.
