MURFREESBORO, TN - Busking... It's the activity of playing music in the street for voluntary donations – and we may see more busking in downtown Murfreesboro... That was Sarah Callender, Executive Director of Main Street Murfreesboro. She told WGNS that some have even studied the reaction of people who walk past street musicians...

As more living space is added to the downtown Murfreesboro area, additional retail, restaurant and office space will also increase. More residents will lead to more shoppers, which could equal a more consistent flow of street musicians, which you don't see a lot of on the historic square.

Karl Wingruber leads the Music City Swing band and is passionate about music. Sometimes, his passion may lead him to play on the street, just to make others smile...

Music City Swing, a band with over 20 members, will bring the authentic 1940s big band sound to life on Friday, June 7th. They'll kick off the summer concert series with a free performance in front of the historic Rutherford County Courthouse. The free concert series takes place the first Friday in June, July, August, and September from 6:30PM to 9:30PM.
