Lawrence Maxwell “Pete” Elkins, age 53, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur B. and Mattie Sue Melton and Maxwell and Thelma Elkins; uncles, Jimmie Melton, Douglas Melton, and Bill Boyd; and aunt, Kay Hargis.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Nancy Elkins; sister, Darla Enoch and her husband Scott; uncle, Sam Melton and his wife Andrea; aunt, Maxine Boyd; cousins, Mike Melton, Julie Farris, Kathy Melton, Warren Melton, Brian Melton, Renee Clouse, Rebecca Copeland, Jay Melton, Jeff Todd, Karen Cox, Donna Sumners, Trevor Hargis, Tracy Boyd, Leah Boyd, and Brett Boyd; as well as many other family and close friends.

Pete was a native of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and active member of Science Hill Church of Christ. He was a 1989 graduate of Oakland High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University. He developed a love for horses at a young age and was proud of his jobs where he got to work in the walking horse industry and also worked at Bridgestone in Lavergne, TN. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan, specifically the Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans, Tennessee Vols, and Atlanta Braves. Pete had a deep love for Christ, his family, and his church. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
