Feb 05, 2025 at 05:47 pm by WGNS News

RUTHERFORD COUNTY – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed the arrest of a Smyrna Police Officer on Wednesday. Following an investigation by TBI special agents and detectives from the Smyrna Police Department, evidence was presented to the courts, resulting in the indictment of the now former officer.

In December 2024, TBI agents began investigating allegations of forged documents at the request of 16th Judicial District Attorney General Jennings Jones. During the investigation, agents discovered multiple doctors' notes that had been forged for excused school absences submitted to the Rutherford County School System. The TBI informed WGNS in an email on February 5, 2025, “These notes had been submitted to the school system by Lindsy Clemons, who at the time was a patrol officer for Smyrna Police Department.”

On February 4, the Rutherford County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging 37-year-old Lindsy Nicole Clemons (DOB 07/13/1987) with 19 counts of forgery and six counts of identity theft. Clemons was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $40,000 bond. She was released approximately two hours later.

Clemmons became an officer with the Smyrna Police Department in November of 2021.
