MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) — The Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) is investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist that occurred Sunday.

According to investigators, a blue Nissan Rogue was traveling eastbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Carver Avenue when a bicyclist attempted to cross the roadway. The bicyclist entered the path of the SUV, resulting in a collision.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene, but despite their efforts, the bicyclist was pronounced dead. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending family notification.

The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

MPD’s Fatal Accident Crash Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
