SMYRNA, Tenn. (WGNS) – Stewarts Creek High School has announced the hiring of Hannah Jones as the new head coach for the Lady Red Hawks basketball team. Jones brings a decade of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels, as well as an accomplished playing career in the U.S. and abroad.

A Brentwood native and graduate of Brentwood High School, Jones joins Stewarts Creek after four standout seasons at Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS). During her time at MTCS, she led the program to two TSSAA Division I-A state championship appearances—the first in the school’s history—and posted a 74-46 overall record.

Her success at MTCS earned her multiple accolades, including Tennessean All-Midstate Small Class Girls Basketball Coach of the Year (2022), TSSAA DIIA Middle District 3 Coach of the Year (2022–2023), and BCAT All Star Coach (2023). She also coached a TSSAA Miss Basketball nominee.

Before transitioning to coaching, Jones starred at Lipscomb University, where she scored over 1,000 career points and was inducted into the school’s prestigious 1,000 Point Club in 2013. She went on to play professionally in Australia, competing in both the North West Basketball Union (NWBU) and the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL).

Dr. Clark Harrell, principal at Stewarts Creek High School, praised the hire. “Our search was extensive and there were many highly qualified and impressive applicants. Jones’s experience both as a player and coach set her above the rest. I am extremely excited to welcome her to the Red Hawk family.”

Jones expressed her enthusiasm for the new opportunity. “I’m incredibly honored to join Stewarts Creek and lead the Lady Red Hawks,” she said. “This is a program with great potential and a history of proven success. I’m excited to help our student-athletes grow not only as basketball players but as young women ready to take on the world.”

Coach Jones begins her new role immediately and is already preparing for the upcoming season.
