MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is marking a major milestone this month as it celebrates 25 years of dedicated service to children and families impacted by abuse in Rutherford and Cannon Counties.
A special anniversary celebration will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, located at 3050 Medical Center Parkway in Murfreesboro. The event is open to the public and members of the media, and will include light refreshments, a retrospective look at the CAC’s impact, and remarks from several community leaders.
Since opening its doors in 2000, the Child Advocacy Center has worked closely with the Child Protective Investigative Team to respond to cases involving child abuse, child sexual abuse, and drug-endangered children. Over the past 25 years, the Center has served more than 50,000 individuals, including over 21,000 children and 17,000 adults who have participated in the Darkness to Light child sexual abuse prevention training program.
“In the last 25 years, the Child Advocacy Center has been blessed with dedicated employees, committed volunteers, an outstanding Board of Directors, amazing partnerships with the Child Protective Investigative Team, and incredible community support,” said Sharon De Boer, Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center. “Some of the best people in this community have dedicated their careers to making a difference in children’s lives. We are so excited to celebrate this milestone with the community that has supported us every step of the way.”
Speakers at the celebration will include Rutherford County Mayor Joe Carr, child sexual abuse survivor Evane Stone, CAC Executive Director Sharon De Boer, and Murfreesboro City Schools Director Dr. Trey Duke.
The Child Advocacy Center invites everyone in the community to attend and recognize 25 years of commitment to child safety, healing, and justice. For more information about the event or how to support the organization, call 615-867-9000 or visit www.cacrutherford.org.
