Transportation in Murfreesboro: Public Buses & traffic control on roadways

Murfreesboro Transit public buses, and general transportation with Transportation Director Jim Kerr and new Deputy Transportation Director Lee Smith, who has been on-the-job for about a month. 

  • Ribbon cutting at the new Transportation Center Aug. 25, 2025
  • All Murfreesboro Transit buses move from Florence Road to the new Transportation Center on New Salem Highway at Bridge Avenue.  
  • Murfreesboro Transit buses will be at the new Center, also We Go buses, and the City is negotiating with Greyhound.
  • Bus Fees: adults $1; students age 6-16 and Senior Citizens, along with persons with disabilities 50-cents, Veterans FREE. 
  • Traffic Control update: 160 traffic signals in Murfreesboro, 53 traffic cameras
  • Discussion of special City TRAFFIC CONTROL PROJECTS: Adaptive traffic system (computer driven) on Rutherford Blvd.
  • Responsive Traffic system on Memorial (St. Clair to Thompson Ln. This is controlled by traffic sensors.
