The investigation began after a reported break-in attempt at a home on Golden Valley Drive, located off Rucker Christiana Road, about 1.5 miles south of Community Care of Rutherford County.
Information released by Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh’s office included details of the incident in hopes that neighbors may have heard the disturbance or captured video of the suspect on home surveillance cameras.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact address of the shooting, but investigators confirmed the alleged intruder was shot multiple times. Lt. Craig added, “Several rounds were fired leaving one person dead.”
A representative from the Sheriff’s Office stated, “Detectives are investigating all aspects of the case that remains active.”
