Law & Order with Murfreesboro Police Chief Michel Bowen and PIO Larry Flowers:
- Increase in traffic crashes and many with injuries and fatalities. MPD has created a special TRAFFIC UNIT.
- Chief Bowen encourages use only "hands free" cell phone when driving.
- New subdivisions under construction and MPD is about to begin a search for 13 new officers (starting in Oct.).
- REAL TIME CRIME CENTER continues to benefit MPD in not only solving crimes, but getting to a crime scene long before the public phones for help.
- Forecasts of the new police headquarters is expected to max-out by 2030. Precincts might be needed then. Chief Bowen said the first precinct is need in West Murfreesboro. We need a police complex on each side of I-24. The current headquarters would serve east side of I-24, and in the western part of the City a unit in the Blackman area would be beneficial.
