Rutherford County, TN - If you’ve got old prescriptions gathering dust or unused vapes tucked away in a drawer, this Friday (10/24/2025) is your chance to clear them out—safely and responsibly. Rutherford County is once again participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing medication misuse and keeping harmful substances out of our homes and environment.
From 8:00 o’clock this coming Friday morning until 2:00 that afternoon, residents can swing by either of two drop-off locations: Murfreesboro Medical Clinic at 1272 Garrison Drive or MMC at 3325 Shores Road.
No questions asked, no forms to fill out—just a simple way to dispose of expired or unwanted medications and vapes.
The event is powered locally by the Prevention Coalition for Success, with strong support from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Strategies and Tactics for Opioid Prevention team. Together, they’re making it easier for families to take a proactive step toward safety.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the goal of Drug Take Back Day is twofold: to offer a secure and convenient way to dispose of medications, and to raise awareness about the risks of prescription drug abuse.
It’s a small action with a big ripple effect—helping prevent accidental poisonings, overdoses, and the environmental hazards of flushing or trashing medications. So, if you’ve been meaning to clean out that medicine cabinet, now’s the time. Your effort could make a real difference in someone’s life.
