Thorpedo Anna paraded before fans at Keeneland on October 25

The sport of Thoroughbred racing has had many stars. As is the case with any sport, some shine brighter than others. In this game, it is best not to blink as the really bright ones normally do not stick around long.

Thoprpedo Anna has been one of the shining lights in the sport over the past two years. Truly a Haley's Comet horse, she lit up the sky for fans far and wide. Named Horse of the Year in 2024, this Kenny mcPeek trainee turned in omne of the best campaigns in recent memory. In seven starts last year, she sashayed to the winner's circle six times and was second by a falring nostril in the other. Among those six triumphs were grade 1 scores in the Kentucky Oaks, Acorn Stakes, Coaching Club American Oaks, Cotillion Stakes, and Breeders' Cup Distaff.

Returning to the track in 2025, she had four wins in six starts, but lacked the same punch as before. Refusing to risk injury, McPeek and the ownership group decided it was best to begin her second career as a broodmmare sooner rather than later.

Thoprpedo Anna boasts a creer record of 12 wins and 2 seconds in 16 career starts. Purchased for $40,000 as a yearling, she earned over $5.4 million on the track. She was paraded one final time at Keeneland on October 25, almost two years to the day since breaking her maiden there on October 26, 2023.
