One suspect placed a handgun under a taxi driver’s rib and robbed him of his cell phone, taser and cash during a hold up about 3:30 a.m. Monday on Twin Oak Drive, a sheriff’s deputy reported.
The rider pulled out a handgun and pointed the muzzle at the City Cab driver’s ribs under his arm and took the keys to his vehicle, his phone and money, Deputy Robert Horne reported. He ordered the driver to walk around a vacant residence while he fled.
Originally, the taxi driver picked up the suspect at Mapco Express on Almaville Road in Smyrna and drove him to Tremont apartments on Tremont Drive in Murfreesboro. Then, they drove to Twin Oak Drive off East Main Street where the suspect directed the driver to pull into the driveway of a vacant house.
Detective Steve Brown launched the investigation and obtained photographs of the suspect who was described as a black man about 6-foot-2 and 30 years old. He wore a black tank top and white shorts.
